What am I doing posting an article about an anti-wedding wedding?
In summary, the article is about two Washington Post reports who set out to plan an anti-wedding. They were aiming for a wedding that bucked tradition, didn't cost much, and liberated the couple getting married. They were looking to help a couple avoid wedding mayhem. In the end, it turned out a bit different than what they expected.
They found that yes, they were able to plan a wedding for about $3,000. That included feeding 40 guests. They also found that they were able to buck tradition. However, in true reality the couple ended up with a wedding that perfectly fit their personality and their desires. The anti-planners also found that there was still a lot of planning, despite their best efforts. In the end the uniting of two people in-love was joyously celebrated.
Reading this article reminded me of the very most important element of wedding planning--celebrating your joy. When it comes down to it, the most important thing to me is that you have a celebration that is one that you will remember, one that reflects each of your personalities, and one that unites you in marriage. Swans or pizza, we can do it all. Just a thought for today...
